    1. [MAWORCES] Westchester NY Question

    3. I've been searching for an ancestor, Minnie (Mary) Simington whose married name was Newell. She was born in MA about 1855. On Ancestry.com in the 1920 Census I found her name (not yet sure if it is the one I'm looking for) in Yonkers Ward 1 Westchester NY along with about 20 or so other people. She was listed as an 'inmate'. As I looked at the other people most were listed as 'inmates' however, there were small children some as young as 4 years old also listed as an inmate. Some of them didn't seem to be connected to an adult and others appeared to be whole families, mother and father and children. I was wondering if anyone has come upon this and can tell me more about it. Was it a prison? A Jail? Were the children the ones in trouble? I would love to know about this from anyone who has some answers. Thanks so much! A Message for you from JUDY!

    2. Judy: Just reviewed the census image. Minnie is a teacher in an Orphans home. Possibly live in so listed as inmate. This Minnie born NY in 1868.
