    3. Hi, Judy, The 1920 census shows at the top of the page that all these people were in Leeks & Watts Orphan House on Hawthorne Avenue, Yonkers, Westchester, NY. She was single, born in NY; her parents were also born in NY. She was a teacher. It doesn't seem as if she could be the one you are seeking as her age doesn't match your person. She was listed as an 'inmate'. As I looked at the other people most were listed as 'inmates' however, there were small children some as young as 4 years old also listed as an inmate. Some of them didn't seem to be connected to an adult and others appeared to be whole families, mother and father and children. I was wondering if anyone has come upon this and can tell me more about it. Was it a prison? A Jail? Were the children the ones in trouble? > > I would love to know about this from anyone who has some answers.
