Just when ya break through one brick wall--SPLAT!! you hit another!! I had found my gr gr gr grandfather's death certificate in Vt. The death certificate said that Johnathan HARRINGTON was born on 25 July 1804 in Barre, Ma. It also said that his parents were Samuel and where it says mother's maiden name it just says "S." I promptly wrote the town clerk of Barre,Ma. After a 3 wk. research she said that no records were found for any HARRINGTON for that time period and she searched 1800-1850. I know there is also a Barre Vt. but Resource and Research Dept. of Vt. states that Johnathan HARRINGTON was not born in Barre Vt. or anywhere in Vt. Barre, Ma. is in Worcester County and when I ran a search for Samuel HARRINGTON in Worcester there were several Samuel Harringtons in various Worcester towns in the 1800 Worcester census. I am thinking maybe his mother was visiting someone in Barre when Johnathan was born, or maybe he was born somewhere(a hospital or midwife's home) in Barre but never actually lived there. The town clerk nontheless checked all vital records and found no b.c. for Johnathan. Does anybody know of churches in that area that may have a list of baptismals? I realize much of Ma. was country and farms and that if somebody had a baby they may just not have gone to town to register the birth. Is there maybe a list of baptisms for Wocester County from 1800-1805 or 1810 or would they again be just church records? I have no idea what denomination the HARRINGTONS were. Is there maybe a master list of births for Worcester county from 1800-1805 or 1810? Is there perhaps a master lists of marriages for Worcester county for late 1700's to early 1800's? If there was a list of marriages I may be able to narrow it down by seeing if Samuel married somebody with a maiden name that began with an S. Does anybody know of any of the lists I asked about? Does anybody have any other suggestions of how I may find Johnathan HARRINGTON and his father Samuel? Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to provide me. Renne Blocker
