Since I sent the message below, I have received information that Albert and Calvin Norris were each assessed a poll tax; the same occurred in 1876, but none in 1879. Albert was taxed again in 1884 and 1886, only poll tax. The next item in the list is the name of Matilda C. Norris whose dwelling was taxed, received a $ 550,00 exemption. In 1888 Matilda was listed on Silver lake St., Athol, MA. and Albert was listed on Pinedale during poll taxing. A Henry Miller of 528 Crescent St. remembered the Norris family living at 560, and having two children, Charlie and Minnie. he same information has Albert Norris buried in Silver Lake Cemetery. Albert Norris and Helen McDonald were married Feb. 25. 1873, at Otter River with the Rev. Robert Walsh officiating. None of this information has been documented and I don't know where it originated. How can I find if this information is true? And could this lead to more information about this family? Thank you, Flora Warner [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: Flora and Jack Warner To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, March 30, 2006 5:07 PM Subject: Norris- McDonald family I'm looking for information on Albert C. Norris (1853 in England - 1904 Athol? MA) and Ellen McDonald (~1854 in Ireland- 1888 Athol, MA). At the time of her death they had 5 children (Albert C., Herbert, Alice Francis, Minnie and John) who were taken to the Alms House in Athol, MA on 11/5/1888. Minnie was removed on 11/20/1888 and Albert on 4/31/1891. The other three children were taken to the Home for Little Wanderers and later placed on an Orphan Train. They were raised by three related families in Kosciusko Co., IN; were never adopted and knew they were brothers and sister. My questions: How did Ellen die? What happened to Albert and the son who was taken back? What happened to Minnie? What other information is available? John was my husband's grandfather. Flora
