I wonder if this is the cemetery Donald means - He mentioned driving down Blackstone street and some back roads...... Feature Name: Albee Cemetery Feature Type: cemetery State: Massachusetts County: Worcester USGS 7.5' x 7.5' Map: Blackstone 420234N 0713550W Blackstone became a town in 1845, but maybe people still referred to it as Mendon? This cemetery is near enough to Uxbridge so that a person from another state wouldn't know what town they were in if they crossed the line coming in from uxbridge. Donald mentioned Horses Corner - does anyone know where that is? Lisa
Hi All: I checked my book of other names know for area of towns in MA, and nothing for Horses Corners. The Albee Cemetery is in Uxbridge according to my topographical map. Albee Road as I said runs from Rt 122 going to Millville/Blackstone, etc. The end of Albee Road meets Chestnut Street in Millville. Going north on Chestnut Street it becomes Millville Road when the road crosses at Chestnut Hill [between Legg and Grove Street] into Mendon. Just up a ways on the right is the Taft-Lamothe cemetery. There is a little road just beyond the cemetery, or it could be at the cemetery. No name though. I can scan the map, but it won't show up in the list e-mails. Alison
Hi All: I sent the scanned map to Lisa, Sue, Don Barnes, and to Alice. I still have it on my computer. Again- I am only telling and stating what I know. It could be that both Enos and Deborah were removed from Taft-Lamothe and reburied in Albee. Note I said *could be*. Perhaps the Uxbridge cemetery records that are in the bank vault in Uxbridge can be looked at. Because of the time frame, I doubt that neither Uxbridge nor Mendon have the burial permits, and if they were moved, the transit permits required. Also, in the cemetery book that Susan Salisbury did, the Albee Cemetery in Uxbridge has entries. The one for Taft-Lamothe in Mendon, does not. There are 12 entries for the Albee Cemetery in Susan Salisbury's book. Nothing for Enos nor Deborah. The only Lamothe burials I know about are in the Swansdale Cemetery in Mendon. Alison
Thanks for looking, Alison. The site I found that listed the cemeteries in MA called the location of the Albee as Blackstone but when you look at the map it is right where you are saying. I've been looking for Horses Corners, but I can't find a thing on it. Maybe it was just a name the locals used and never made it to the *official lists*. I didn't go down Millville past the taft cemetery. I didn't realize until after I got home and looked at the map, that the Albee cem was just down the street. It had started to rain by then anyway.
