Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County, Mass. Vol. 2 pgs 44,45 Captain William RAYMOND (I), immigrant ancestor of Henry M. RAYMOND, of Winchendon, Mass., deceased, come to New England, according to his own testimony given in the Essex Court, Dec. 28, 1697, " about the year 1652". He was of Essex County in "Old England", and his father, William RAYMOND, the "steward", was brother of Richard RAYMOND, a prominent pioneer of Salem, Mass. Capt. Willim, was born according to his testimony on the occasion about 1637. He made his home at Beverly. He was in the Naragansett fight in King Philip's War, 1675, and was appointed by the General Court in 1683 Lt. Commander of the Beverly and Wenham troops. He also commaned a company in the ill-starred PHIPPS expedition against Canada in 1690. He was deputy to the General Court from Beverly in 1685-86. Captain RAYMOND died Jan. 29, 1709 He married (1st) Hannah BISHOP, daughter of Edward BISHOP. She was born April 12, 1646. He married (2nd) Ruth HULL, daughter of Isaac HULL, of Beverlt. Children of Capt. William and Hannah (BISHOP) RAYMOND were: #1 William. see forward #2 Edward, bapt. July 12, 1668, married Mary (?), who was dismissed from the First Church Salem, to the new Church, April 2, 1716 #3 George bapt. Oct. 30, 1670 #4 Hannah, bapt. May 18, 1673, married (1st) Nathaniel HAYWARD and (2nd) to (?) HUTCHINSON #5 Abigail bapt. July 23, 1676, married March 29, 1694 to John GILES. Children of Capt. William and Ruth (HULL) RAYMOND were: #1 Mary born May 2, 1682, married Josiah BATCHELDER #2 Ruth born 1690 and died March 1747 #3 Ebenezer born 1691 (II) William RAYMOND, son of Capt. William RAYMOND (I) was born at Salem or Beverly, Mass. abut 1666. He was a witness in a witchcraft case in Salem and seems not to have been one of the deluded ones. He was killed Ja. 1701, by the fall of a tree. He married Mary KETTLE, daughter of John KETTLE of Gloucester, Mass. Their children were all born in Beverly, and they are: #1 Mary born May 16, 1688, died Jan. 20, 1689 #2 William born Feb. 11, 1690 #3 Daniel born Nov. 25, 1691 #4 Paul born Jan. 22, 1695, see forward (III) Paul RAYMOND, son of William RAYMOND (II), was born in Beverly, Mass. on Jan. 22, 1695. He was a lieutenant of a military company. He died 1759, age 65. He married on Feb. 28, 1717 to Tabitha BALCH, daughter of Freeborn BALCH. Their first 5 children were baptized in the First Church at Salem. They were dismissed from the First Church to the Church at Bedford, Mass. on April 4, 1736. Children of Lt.
