Genealogical and Pesonal Memoirs of Worcester County, Mass. Vol. 1 pgs 81, 82 (VI) Elisha WHITNEY, son of Elijah WHITNEY (V), was born at Roxbury on Oct. 6, 1747. He married in Newton, Mass. on June 4, 1769 to Abigail DANA. He was a lieutenant in the revolution. His picture painted by Stuart is owned by his grandson, Benjamin D. WHITNEY. He resided at West Roxbury, Mass. Their children were: #1 Experiece born Feb. 1776, died Sept. 17, 1777 #2 Abigail born April 10, 1778, married Nov. 17, 1799 to Joseph SEAVER of Boston #3 Elisha born Feb. 4, 1780, married Sarah HEATH #4 Asa, see forward #5 Pedy born July 20, 1784, married in Roxbury, 1801, to Colonel Joseph DUDLEY, who was born Oct. 16, 1780, he owned and occupied the Old DUDLEY homestead in Roxbury. He was a farmer strict in principles, generous with his fortune, he gave a site for a town house in Roxbury. #6 William born June 17, 1788, died unmarried #7 Elizabeth born March 3, 1793, died unmarried. (VII) Asa WHITNEY, son of Elisha WHITNEY (VI) was born in Boston on May 18, 1782. He married at Pomfret, Conn. on Dec. 31, 1805 to Mary HAMMOND, who was born Dec. 7, 1787 and died 1845. He died March 4, 1826. He resided at Pomfret, Roxbury, Cambridge and Boston.
