It may help to have this information again about the books from which Marcia Payne is furnishing abstracts. "Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County, Massachusetts, with a History of Worcester Society of Antiquity" prepared under the editorial supervision of Ellery Bicknell Crane, Librarian of the Worcester Society of Antiquity, and Editor of the Proceedings; author of "The Rawson Family Memorial," "Crane Family," two vols., Etc. This four-volume history of Worcester County was published by The Lewis Publishing Company of New York and Chicago; 1907. It is my sense that this is a compilation of genealogical material furnished by descendants of these families, the descendants of which were currently living in Worcester County during this genealogical and historical compilation. It may be that some source records were consulted at the time. It is also possible that this was published by subscription. It's very evocative of the early settlement of Massachusetts, and is a nice starting point for research of these families as the material often points to previous localities. Adele
