Dear Worcester County Listers, I wonder if anyone connects with George BANCROFT, the famous historian, who was born at Worcester in 1800, died in 1891, and is buried at 'Worcester Rural Cemetery'. His son by his first marriage (to Sarah Hopkins DWIGHT), John Chandler BANCROFT, married (in 1864), my wife's fourth cousin five times removed, Louisa Maria DENNY, daughter of Edward DENNY (1806 - 1874) and his wife, Cornelia (nee LARNED). I am reading George BANCROFT's History of the United States at present, and it's one of the best pieces of writing (let alone history) that I have ever come across!
