continuing from paragraph (IV) John Sargent: He went to Barnstable with his father and was made a freeman there between 1662 and 1669.He was Selectman of the town of Barnstable for 6 years. In May 1695, the town of Malden made a division of 2,300 acres of common lands and John SARGENT and John SARGENT,Jr. received their proportion of the land. John SARGENT, Sr. being the man designed to draw the lots for the division of the land. His slate gravestone is to be seen in the Bel Rock Cemetary, formerly the Old Malden Burying Ground. All his 15 children are named in his will, which was made May 20, 1708. John and Deborah had 4 children, John and Lydia had 11 children. They are: #1 Joseph, of whom later; #2 John, born Feb.16,1664-5, married Mary LINNELL (who died about 1755, and she was daughter of David), resided inMalden and Reading, Mass. and Mansfield, Conn.,he died April 16, 1755;#3 Mary, born in 1667, married Nathan TOBY of Sandwich, Mass.;#4 Jabez, born April 1669, died in 1694-5 unmarried;#5 Hannah, born Dec. 1675; #6 Jonathan born April 17, 1677, marrried on March 13, 1699-1700 to Mary LYNDE, who was born on July 5, 1678 and died Nov. 19, 1716, daughter of John, he married (2nd) on Nov. 26, 1717 to Mary SPRAGUE who was born on May 25, 1696, she died March 14, 1787, she was daughter of Jonathan, resided at Malden and Mansfield, Conn., he died Oct. 27, 1754, he was Selectman of Malden and representative 7years, in 1735 he gave land for a meeting house;#7 William, born Nov. 20, 1680, married Dec. 30, 1702 to Mary LEWIS who was born on March 1, 1681 and died Feb. 1743-4, daughter of Isaac,resided at Malden, where he was a Selectman for 9 years, he died March 15, 1731-2; #8 Lydia, married in 1701 to Joseph WAITE, Jr. of Malden; #9 Deborah, married Dec. 26, 1701 to Thomas WAITE of Malden; #10 Ruth, born Oct. 26, 1686, died Oct. 28, 1719; #11 Samuel, born Sept. 15, 1688, married Dec. 2, 1714 to Elizabeth PRATT, who was born Jan. 24, 1692-3, daughter of Thomas, resided in Charlestown, he died Dec. 7, 1721, his widow married (2nd) to John TUFTS of Medford, Mass.; #12 Ebenezer, born Sept. 25, 1690, married Aug. 7, 1716 to Esther WILLIAMS, who died after 1735, he married (2nd) to Mary (?), who died in 1781, resided in Malden, Charlestown and Brookline, Mass. , he died Sept. 24, 1771; # 13 Hope #14 Mehitable, born Sept. 5, 1696; # 15 Sarah, died Dec. 5, 1716.
