Geealogical and personal Memoirs of Worcester County, Mass. Vol. 2 page 376 (VII) John DAVIS, son of Rueben DAVIS (VI) was born at Ashby, Mass. on June 16, 1816 and died Jan. 10, 1900. He received his education in the common schools of his native town. When about 12 years old he was bound out as an apprentice to David DAMON and workd for him until he came of age, attending school during the winter terms only. After he was 21 years old, he worked for his father fr a few years. Then he bought the old Ephraim HEYWOOD saw mill and grist mill, which he conducted for a number of years. He lived at Hyde Park with his daughter Delia during the latter years of his life and died there. He was a member of the Orthodox Congregational Church of Ashby. In politics he was a Republican and held numerous town offices, among which was school supervisor. He married Eliza Ann TAYLOR of Ashby, Mass. on Dec. 28, 1846, their children are: Alvin G. born Oct. 27, 1847; Mary E. born Aug. 30, 1849; Frank Walker born Nov. 9, 1855; Abbie born April 11, 1859; Delia born Dec. 31, 1861; John born Nov. 28, 1864; and Nelson born July 30, 1869.
