(V) Deacon Joseph HUBBARD, son of Samuel HUBBARD (IV) was born in Holden, Mass., 1715. He took a very active part in the early history of Holden, fought against the Indians, held town offices for many years, and was Deacon of the church and all together one of the first citizens for a long peiod. He married about 1740 to Phebe BUCKELEY. She was born 1721and died August 15, 1804. His children were: #1 Phebe born Apr. 7, 1741, died young;#2 Rebeca born Feb. 12, 1744, married Isaac DAVIS;#3 Phebe (2nd of name) born July 20, 1749, married Samuel HAYWARD; #4 Joseph born Oct. 25, 1751 see forward: #5 Peter born March 17, 1754 and died Aug. 12, 1826, he married Phebe BRIGHAM; #6 Attai born June 20, 1756; #7 Millicent born Aug. 22, 1758, died young;#8 Tilly born April 19, 1761, married Annie JESLYN; #9 Millicent (2nd of name) born Sept. 19, 1763. (VI) Joseph HUBBARD, son of Deacon Joseph HUBBARD (V) was born in Holdn, Mass. on Oct. 25, 151 and died there April 16, 1832. He married Millicent MELVIN of Concord. They settled in Holden, where he also became a prominent citizen. His children were: #1 Joseph born April 10, 1783, and married Melicent PARKER of Winslow in March of 1807; #2 John born Nov. 20, 1784; #3 Bulkeley born Nov. 13, 1787, married Nov. 18, 1819 to Lois NYE; #4 Amos born July 15, 1788, died 1819; #5 Milicent born Nov. 28, 1790, married John GOULDING; #6 Simeon born Sept. 16, 1792, married Mrs. Abigail BAILEY; #7 Hannah born May 1, 1796, mrried Samuel STRATTON; #8 Emerson born Jan. 24, 1799, married Lucy HOWARD; #9 Attai born Nov. 28, 1801. (VII) John HUBBARD, son of Joseph HUBBARD (VI) was born in Holden, Mass. on Nov. 20, 1784. He married Huldah BOYDEN on July 30, 1806. She was the mother of his 9 children. He settled in Holden, where all his children were born. He married (2nd) Esther M. STONE. He was a farmer at Holden and his children were: #1 Maria born 1834 and died March 5, 1836 #2 Charles H. born 1841 and died 1842 #3 John Franklin HUBBARD born 1841 #4 Henry born Nov. 11, 1842 and died May 15, 1845 #5 Joseph Emerson HUBBARD born Dec. 22, 1844 and died May 11, 1845 #6 Lewis Foster HUBBARD born May 17, 1849 #7 Ira Broad HUBBARD #8 Martha (IX) Lewis Foster HUBBARD, son of Daniel Foster HUBBARD (VIII) was born in Holden< Mass on May 17, 1849. He married Mary E. FLAGG. He died Sept. 19, 1879. His children were: #1 Chares P. born Jan 16, 1872 resides at Holden with Mother #2 Loring F. HUBBARD born at Holden onDec. 25, 1877, marred Elizabeth FALES, daughter of Charles and Emma (DAVIS) FALES, and has 1 child, Emma Elizabeth, born June 28, 1904. He resides at Holden and is a clerk.
