    3. (III) William SARGENT, son of Roger SARGENT (II) was bapt. June 20, 1602. He married (1st) Hannah (?), who died Sept. 1632, married (2nd) Marie (?) who died probably in 1637, he married (3rd) Sarah MINSHALL, wiow of William MINSHALL of Whitchurch, Gent. earlier of Bunbury in Cheshire. William SARGENT was admitted freeman in Northampton on July 20, 1626, and was senior bailiff 1632 and 1633. He came with his third wife Sarah, and 2 daughers by his 1st wife, and settled in Charleston in 1638 on the Mystic side. He joined the Charleston Church on March 10, 1638-9. He was admitted a freeman in 1639. The town of Malden was set-off in 1649. William SARGENT was a lay preacher in Malden from 1648-1650. His farm was in the South part of Malden on the southerly slope of what is now called Belmont Hill. This part of the town was set-off Malden in 1870 as the town of Everett and it became a city in 1893. Part of his house stood until 1890. William SARGENT moved to Barnstable probably in 1656 or 1657, for he was in Malden in 1655 and in Barnstable in 1658. He was admitted a freeman in the Plymouth Colony in 1657. He was a preacher at Barnstable and became prominent there. He died in Barnstable, Dec. 16, 1682 and his wife Sarah died Jan. 12, 1688-9. He left a will made March 9, 1679-80. Children of William SARGENT were: #1 Elizabeth, born in England, bapt. July 3, 1628, died Jan.1629-30; #2 Hannah, born in England, bapt. July 13, 1629, came to New England with her father, married in 1649 to Henry FELCH of Reading, Mass., died Dec. 15, 1717; #3 Elizabeth, born in England, bapt. Sept. 12, 1630, came to New England with her father, married about 1651 to David NICHOLS, married (2nd) on Jan. 14, 1652-3 to Thomas BILL of Boston, died March 5, 1657-8; #4 Mary, born in England, bapt. Sept. 2, 1632, probably died in infancy;#5 Sarah, born in England, bapt. Oct. 26, 1635, probaby died young;#6 Marie, born in England, bapt. Jan 22, 1636-7, probably died young;#7 John, of whom later;#8 Ruth, born Oct. 25, 1642, married about 1663 to Jonathan WINSLOW of Marshfield, son of Josiah WINSLOW, and nephew of Governor Edward WINSLOW, married (2nd) on July 1677 to Richard BOURNE of Sandwich, and married (3rd) in 1684 to John CHIPMAN of Sandwich, she died Oct. 4, 1711; #9 Samuel, born March 3, 1644-5,made freeman of Plymouth Colony in 1684, ad died Sept. 22, 1710. (IV) John SARGENT, son of William SARGENT (III) was born in Charlestown, now Everett, Mass., bapt. Dec. 8, 1639. He married March 19,1662 to Deborah HILLIER of Barnstable. She was born at Yarmouth on Oct. 30, 1643 and died April 20, 1669. Her father was Hugh HILLIER. John SARGENT married (2nd) on Sept. 3, 1669 to Mary BENSE, she died Feb. 1670-1. He married (3rd) Lydia CHIPMAN of Barnstable, granddaughter of John HOWLAND, of the "Mayfower". She was born at Barnstable on Dec. 25, 1654, and died March 2, 1730. Her father was John CHIPMAN. John SARGENT died in Malden on Sept. 9, 1716. END of Part 2
