Thank you Pat for the additional information. I've been digging around in my source materials to see where I got the name Sampson for Simeon Bowman. It came from a handwritten record that I had copied several years earlier from an unpublished genealogy prepared by Gilman Bigelow Howe (ca 1850-1940). This same genealogical resource was subsequently inherited (and added to) by his nephew, John A. Bigelow of Marlboro. The Vital Statistics of Northboro and Westboro clearly identify Mr. Bowman' name as Simeon, although Betsey's name is subject to some variation in spelling. Just to add a little something to the mix, if we note the dates of birth and marriage for Betsey Bartlett (1764 and 1797 respectively) we see that she would have been in her 30s when she married Simeon Bowman. One might speculate that at this time in our country's history, that would represent an advanced age for a woman to marry for the first time. The reason I bring this up is that in my handwritten notes there is an entry which was crossed out indicating that Betsey Bartlett m. John Fisk in 1790. At this time I have no way of corroborating against the original source to determine whether I, myself, mistakenly made the original notation, realized my error on the spot, and then crossed it out, or whether I faithfully copied an entry that had been crossed out in the original manuscript. If this detail if of any relevance to your research, you may want to further investigate and see if there was any Fisk connection. Do you have any information on the town in which Simeon and Betsey resided after their marriage (also where their children were born) and where Betsey died and was buried? What info I have came from the sources listed below. Westboro, MA vial records. BIRTHS Simeon Bowman, s. James & Mary, b. In the Farwell family bible it gives her birth date as May 30, 1799 (above attributed to "Holloway" which I believe was her middle name) her grave marker lists her death as Jun. 15, 1873 at age 74 which works out to 1799 for her birth. Apparently there are confusing inconsistencies in the Berlin info. Betsey's marriage date from Berlin was the first I found, and is what I had in my notes. If the intentions listed for Aug. 23, 1797 (Westboro) are accurate your marriage date of Oct. 31, 1797 makes more sense. I was surprised to see that Betsey's family ended up in Westboro.
