Are there any Uxbridge residents on this list? Anyone who would be willing to contact St. Mary's RC church for burial information on my great grandmother Mary Reynolds Garrahan? I have her death cert. from State of Ma. She died in Northbridge, Ma.on Jan. 3, 1895. A small obit I found in the Worcester Spy states she was living in Plummers Corners, Northbridge. My research shows there was no RC church in Northbridge at that time. It seems the closest RC church would have been St. Mary's. This church has been contacted a number of times in the last few years & they have been asked to check for this burial information in their records and no information has been forthcoming from them. This brick wall is enormous. Her death cert. says she was to be buried in Pascoag, RI. The RC church that was in existence at that time, St. Patrick's, cannot find their records for that time period. The Pascoag town historian, library, clerk have all been contacted to no avail. All ! known cemeteries there have been contacted to no avail. If anyone on the list can help with this at St. Mary's, I would be very appreciative. Many thanks, Jeannine North Carolina
Hi Jay: No matter where your ancestor was buried a burial permit would be required, and if the buried was to be other than in the town where the death occurred, then a transit permit would also be required. Generally these items are kept in the town halls. Pascoag is within Burrillville, and the town hall for Burrillville is in Harrisville, RI. Contact the town hall to ask about a burial and transit permit for your person. I hope you get good news there because not all town halls retained those documents sad to say.
