    3. I was raised in the area and we walked from Mendon Hill(St.) to Lake Nipmuck to swim in the 50's, it was always Lake Nipmuck to us in that area. The peddle boats were the big thing that we enjoyed going out in. As far as I know there has always been a beach and swimming lessons etc. given on the lake. My niece had her wedding reception in the ball room and it was a wonderful big Italian style party, the food was the best I ever had at a wedding. My husband worked as a fry cook for Teddy Mitchell at Millie Mitchell's--the best fried clams in the world! They also had the best cole-slaw but it was a secret recipe that you could never get. My husband worked there as a second job nights and week-ends during the season for many years! He would bring me home a box of clams and fries and then I could eat it at midnight-now I wouldn't dare! Every time I drive down Rt. 16 by all these places I have fond memories of my youth. So glad others have the same type of memories. Helen in Milford

    3. Helen - When did the boats stop running? When the Lowell's restaurant was still on Rt 16, they had some nice postcards of Lakeview on the wall when you first went in. Did the Mendon trolley run up to the Lake? This past summer I was talking to woman in her 70's who grew up here. She said they used to have burlesque shows at Lakeview at some point - not exactly sure when, but it must have been in the 1920's Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Helen Ware" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, March 07, 2006 9:20 AM Subject: Re: [MAWORCES] Dear Old Mendon > I was raised in the area and we walked from Mendon Hill(St.) to Lake Nipmuck to swim in the 50's, it was always Lake Nipmuck to us in that area.
