There used to be bowling alley's everywhere, but so many of them are gone now. When I was about 10-12, we used to bowl on Saturdays in leagues, and kids had their birthday parties at the bowling alley. Even when I was in high school, there were quite a few, but the ones I went to in RI are all gone now. Both of my grandmothers bowled in women's leagues, and sometimes on a Sunday, they would take us kids. There is still a bowling alley in Millis, Fico's in Franklin, one in Woonsocket, and there is one in Whitinsville. There used to be one in Shrewsbury, on Rt 9, but I'm not sure if it's still there. One thing, though - I have never been candlepin bowling. That's a Massachusetts thing. In RI they all the bowling was either duckpins with big bowling balls, or duckpins with smaller bowling balls. Daverons Pharcmacy is still Run by the Daveron family. They are now located inside Stop & Shop in Milford. That sounds good there would be a bowling alley near here again. Besides the one in Franklin you would have to go to Woonsocker R.I. The same pharmcist from Romiglio is now the pharmicist in Walgreens. >From: "Lisa Lepore" <[email protected]> >To: "Maureen Cooley" <[email protected]> >Subject: Re: [MAWORCES] Dear Old Mendon >Date: Thu, 9 Mar 2006 03:11:23 -0500 > >Romiglio's was still there when we moved here, as >well as Davoren's down the street.
