Hi Allison, Yes its true. The Newport Mansions ARE beautiful. I can even tell you how to get there. From Hopedale...You drive up ROUTE 16 to Uxbridge. Take a right turn at the Center...where the lights are. Then take a left turn onto Douglas Street=Route 16. Go up Douglas Street about 3 miles...Take a left turn onto ROUTE 146 South...You can travel Down Route 146 South quite a ways. I know there is another Route to get onto and you stay with the traffic and MERGE LEFT....You keep traveling on this road till you see MOUNT HOPE BRIDGE or a few miles later Jamestown Bridge...At the END of that exit...You will be on AMERICA"S CUP HIGHWAY....when you get to that turn...Take a right turn and it brings you into Newport....If you go down a few red lights you will see on your right....The Long Warf......I think it is the next left turn.....and then a right turn you are on THAMES STREET(pronounced James) Very Historic... You travel down Thames street and take a right turn AND this Street takes you to the MANSIONS in Newport.It goes all around the oceans view One of my gr. grand aunts got married on the beach in Newport...
