Good morning all - The on line search for the Registry of Deeds is great. The only problem is the indexes are not on line for the oldest land records. You need to search page by page (500+ pages in some volumes) unless you have the number of the deed. I went to the Court House for the first time this past week and did some work on old land records. It is an awesome place. The indexes for 1739 - 18?? are at least 12 thick books. I did try searching page by page on the computer and it can be done - but it is time consuming. The information these deed give can be very valuable - especially in establishing when a person actually lived in an area and how people were related. Sheryl
