I think this pond was called Meadow Pond. In Whitinsville. You can also travel to the Purgatory Chasm from the road that goes over this pond. The Chasm was an interesting visit, but I wasn't wearing the correct shoes to fully enjoy the place. Marcia

Oh, wrong direction, yes, now I know where you are talking about out Sutton Rd. I spent many hours of my childhood and young adulthood at Purgatory Chasm. When I was a kid, you could get refreshments there and have a great time wandering around, after I was married we took the family there and had cook-outs and lots of fun. Now my grandchildren go the and climb down in the chasms and have a great time there. I should check the history of it--I am 64 and it has been there as long as I can remember and my Mom says she went there as a kid also. Yes, going out to Sutton and the old turnpike is all big and beautiful homes that are very pricey . We used to go to the Blue Bird(I think the name was) to eat but it burned down recently.
