Helen - I think the trolley was probably before the time of anyone here will remember - I think it came into Mendon from the center of Bellingham. It was replaced by the bus. Now, if you live out here you have to have a car, or walk. I don't know anything about the people who tried to keep Lakeview going. Their name was Green, and the woman was Sheila - I was told she had been a dancer, but I think I think she was a Rockette or something like that..... I know the old merry go round was sold in 1965, but the other amusements and the restaurant were there into the 1970's. My friend's brother worked there in the summer, and broke his leg on one of the rides. I'm sorry about your gram's house. It's sad to see these older homes taken down just so they can build new ones on top of each other. Makes no sense to me. The current uproar in town is the Comstock House in the center of Mendon. The woman who owns it has sold it to a bank, but they are going to take it down as they have determined it is too costly to renovate it. My family lived near the very top of the hill at the Hopedale/Mendon line. We would get all our stuff together and walk to Lakeview and swim, go in the boats get snacks there etc. > Someone else mentioned Lucier Dance school, one of the teachers was Dolly Lucier-she was a wonderful dancer. They came from Italy to Milford then to Hopedale. > I will ask my Mom if she remembers about the trolley and the shows at Lakeview, she is 84 and her and my Dad used to go to clubs and shows often. > Helen >
