Old Home Week Souvenir of Uxbridge, MA Sep 1908 Moses Taft, b. 26 Jan 1812 Uxbridge, son of Luke & Nancy (Wood) Taft, was for many years connected with the industrial and banking life of his native town. Educated in the Uxbridge public schools, Uxbridge Academy, and the Friend's School in Bolton, MA., he began his business career ij the manufacture of woolens, in which he was interested for many years. Served as Selectman of the town in 1848, 1850, 1853 and 1858, and was twice Chairman of the Board. Was elected representative to the General Court in 1845. Was chosen President of the Blackstone national Bank of uxbridge in 1865, and President of the Uxbridge savings Bank from the time of its organization in 1870, both of which positions he held until the time of his dueath 02 Apr 1893. He was affliliated with Uxbridge Lodge, I.O.O.F. He married Sylvia Ann Wheelock dau of Jerry and Sukey (Day) Wheelock
