I've "rescued" and old diary which belonged to C. S. TARBELL of Washington DC in 1871. Based on the information found in the diary I believe that C. S. TARBELL was probably originally from Massachusetts and was working in Washington DC at the time the diary was written. CLARK, Salary $600 + expenses * Traveled with Aunt Emma P. and exchanged letters, she lives in Groton * J. J. RUSSELL visited from the west * Writes to C. B. PRESTIN and O. D. PRESCOTT * Received letter from W. A. PRESTON * Sent papers to Geo W. MITCHELL * Received a letter from Hattie MITCHELL List of Correspondents in back: * Mae * Aunt Emma * Uncle Frank * L. A.
