    2. Kathy, According to Worcester street directories, John J McGee died on March 5, 1923. The Worcester Public Library may be able to find an obituary for you. 3. Ellen, The bad news first. The only Michael Coyle born in Worcester County was born in Clinton in 1858 to Patt(?) and Mary Coyle. The good news is that there was some info that should be of help. Here is what I found in the NEHGS 1841-1915 database: Gardner marriages: April 15, 1854 - Martin Coyle, of Gardner, a. 31, b. Athlow, Ire., s. Andrew and Catharine, and Mary Ann Burke, of Hubbardston, a. 25, b. Goughal, Ire., d. James and Mary. 1st marriage for both. J.L. Paine, Clergyman in Gordon, officiated. Jan. 16, 1858 - John Murray, of Gardner, a. 29, b. Ireland, s. Michael and Margarett, and Margarett Coyle, of Gardner, a. 25, b. Ireland, d. Andrew and Catharine. 1st marriage for both. Henry Turpen (?), Catholic Priest, officiated. Gardner births: April 18, 1856, Martin Coyle, s. Martin and Mary Coyle. Martin was a laborer. Parents both born in Ireland. Agrees with marriage above. Sept. 1, 1868, Thomas Coyle, ditto above. Mother's middle name is Ann. July 29, 1858, Peter Coyle, ditto above. June 19, 1861, John Coyle, ditto above. The 7-year gap, 1861-8, may mean that they were not in Gardner. I didn't check other Coyle births in the County to see if any were children of Martin and Mary. 2. Hi Listers, Newbie here. I am looking for any information on any of the following: Clara Louise Baddock b.12 Sept 1897 in Stoke Newington, Middlesex, England. She married Emmanuel Fredrik Ventura (born Provincetown on 19 July 1892 but Portuguese background) on 23 Oct 1920 at Belmont, Suffolk, Ma. Clara and Emmanuel had 4 children (3 of whom are living) and 1 other called Doreen Gladys Ventura. She died on 9th March 1975 at Southbridge, Worcester, Ma (Oakridge Cemetery) All the information was found on Family Search and there is a submitter on there from the USA who could be a family member. Apparently a sister of Clara's, Ella Baddock, also went to America but nothing is known about her. Many thanks, Diana from England

    2. Vital Records Project
    3. Good morning, Deb. I think you'll enjoy researching your Massachusetts ancestry. MA is probably the most genealogically friendly state. There is a wealth of records available. All town clerks have been required since earliest times to keep records of all births, marriages and deaths in their towns. For the most part this was done quite thoroughly. Beginning around 1841 all clerks were required to make copies of their records and send them to the state archives. If you find that you have extensive roots in MA or the New England states, you may want to get a membership in NEHGS (New England Historic Genealogical Society.) On of their best databases is the 1841-1915 vital records of MA. This database is an index of the records in the MA Archives. The majority have images of the records. This is the database that I searched to find information on your Pike family. In addition, a great many towns had their vital records published. This was done from the late 1800's to about 1935. There are several places online where you can access these records. Just one of those sites is the one that I oversee. See below. There are some other towns that have been done more recently and are under copyright. This simply means that the books can't be scanned and images made publicly available. The records themselves are public and can be put online. Don't rush into joining NEHGS. You may not have extensive enough roots to justify the expense. You can always ask for help on the various lists. There are many people, like myself, who have memberships and will do lookups. Introductions done. Here is what I found: Albert W. Pike, b. Aug. 8, 1881 in Charlton to Frank L. and Fidelia P. (NMN) Pike. Frank was a mechanic and born in Thompson, CT. Fidelia was born in Charlton. Edith M. Studley, b. Jan. 4, 1883 in Falmouth to George A. and Mary R. (NMN) Studley. George was a mariner and born in Falmouth. Mary was born in Boston. In Charlton on Oct. 9, 1901, Albert Wilson Pike, a. 21, of Charlton, a barber, and Edith M. Studley, a. 18, of Falmouth. First marriage for both. Marriage was officiated by William H. Adams, Pastor M.E. Church. Albert's parents were Frank L. Pike and Fidelia R. Morey. Edith's parents were George A. Studley and Mary J. McLaughlin. George Wilson Pike, b. May 9, 1902 in Charlton to Albert W. and Edith M. (Studley) Pike. Albert was a barber and born in Charlton. Edith was born in Falmouth. Clifton H. Pike, b. Dec. 3, 1906 in Worcester, to Albert W. and Edith M. (Studley) Pike. Albert was a barber and born in Charlton. Edith was born in Falmouth. Edith Studley born 1884 to William H. and Mary Studley in Falmouth. His parents were Elisha F. & Augusta Studly. Can't find a birth record for Albert to determine if he and William were brothers. Falmouth is in Barnstable County. Falmouth was founded in 1694. It had no parent town. The printed volume for Falmouth was published in 1976 by the Rhode Island Society of Mayflower Descendants and is under copyright. You can check your library for this. It is available at my library, but I just don't have the time, right now, to get the book to begin transcribing it. Good luck. :-) John & Jodi Massachusetts Vital Records Administrators - http://MA-VitalRecords.org If you find this site of value - http://MA-VitalRecords.org/Donate.html Quoting DEBEB@aol.com: [Hide Quoted Text] I am new to list and also new to research in this state. Crooker who died in 1897. In addition I would like to thank each and everyone of you on the list for being a part of a broad group of people who are available to provide the traction that each of us needs from time to time in order to climb over our brick walls. The leads that I received have provided pathways that I'll continue to follow in the development of this story. My thanks to everyone, Bob Bartlett

    3. Dear John & Jodi: The information you've provided is most helpful. I had suspected from oral conversations that I overheard as a child that he may have come originally from Maine, but I had no idea what town before receiving your email. I will be following up with this in the future and I thank you for your help. I also wish you continuing luck on the development of Vital Records pages for Massachusetts. As you can probably tell, I have a keen interest in Worcester, Shrewsbury, Northboro, Marlboro and other contiguous communities. Thank you again for your assistance in my quest and thank you for the great service you are both providing to the entire genealogical community for generations to come. Crooker Bob, According to his marriage record, his parents were Cyrus and Rose Crooker (no maiden given) and he was born in Poland, ME(?). He was 22 at the time of his marriage. He was a farmer. Etta was 18. She was the daughter of Henry and Ellen L. Baker and was born in Fitchburg. They were married by Rev. F.H. Allen, Shrewsbury, Pastor Congregational Church Aug. 23, 1885. The recording of his death, as recorded in Shrewsbury and Worcester are essentially the same. The differences are that the Worcester record gives his middle initial as "H." and his occupation as farmer rather than stage driver. However, the item of contention, his age, is identical. You'll need to check with the clerk in Poland. Also, you could post a query for Androscoggin County.
