    3. Hi! >From the Windham County Transcript 13 Apr. 1887 The Bulletin (Norwich Bulletin, Norwich, CT) was mistaken in saying that Mr. Stackpole, the only passenger killed on the N. & W. road for forty years, met his death at Greeneville. Stackpole was killed at Perryville, near Webster, so a gentleman informs us who witnessed the fatal accident. 3. >From the Windham County Transcript published in Danielsonville, (town of Killingly), CT 9 Mar. 1887 Edward Perkinson of Worcester, a brakeman on the N. & W. road, received fatal injuries, Wednesday night, by falling between two cars just below the upper switch in this village (Danielsonville). The flesh of his right leg was terribly mangled. Drs. Hibbard and Jenkins were immediately called and made the poor fellow as comfortable as possible for his trip on the boat train to Norwich. On his arrival in that city he was taken to a hotel, but although he exhibited great physical courage, he steadily failed through the night, and died early Thursday morning. Just before his death he gave an attendant the name of his affianced and asked that she might be notified of the accident. The young woman arrived too late to see her lover alive. She left on the same train with the remains for St. Alban's, VT, where the young man's father resides. His age was 23. 3. Hi! >From the Windham County Transcript 14 Jan. 1864 Michael O'Brien, an Irishman, who formerly resided in Danielsonville, was found dead on Monday evening, in Dudley, a few rods north of Young's Tavern, in the new railroad, a section of the road that is being built by Mr. Wheelock. He left his boarding place Saturday noon, came up to Dudley Hill and bought him a pair of boots at the store, and left about noon to return. He called at one or two places on his way back to warm him. It seems that he fell into the cut and was killed, or injured so he could not go on, and froze. A bottle was found by his side filled with liquor. Marilyn Labbe ____________________________________________________________ Visa, MasterCard, AMEX & Discover. Compare Offers & Apply Online. 2. Betty
    3. Hello, One of my "very distant cousins" has e-mailed to ask if I knew whether he would be able to find "old gravestones" for his KIDDER ancestors in Oxford and Sutton, MA. And, I was wondering if someone could tell me about the "old graveyards" in those towns. I'll offer below some basic information on his ancestors. Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: 28 FRANCIS KIDDER (Enoch, James), of Oxford and Sutton, both in Worcester Co., Mass., born at Billerica, Middlesex Co., Mass., 1 Oct. 1703; died at Oxford, Mass., 20 Oct. 1763. He married at Billerica, 24 Feb. 1730, ELIZABETH HILL, born 14 May 1711; died at Sutton, Mass., 31 Jan. 1805, daughter of Jonathan and Mary (Brackett) Hill. 71 JONATHAN KIDDER (Francis, Enoch, James), born at Sutton, Mass., 6 July 1744; died at Oxford, Mass., 16 July 1816. He married at Sutton, 30 Nov. 1769, SUSANNA DWINNEL, born at Oxford, in 1745; died there 2 Apr. 1819, daughter of Jonathan and Mehetable (Kennay) (sic.) Dwinnel. Jonathan Kidder, Samuel Blanchard and others, with their estates, were set off from the town of Sutton, and annexed to the town of Oxford, Feb. 18, 1793. Their son, Jacob KIDDER, moved north to Dixfield, Maine, and married there. FYI: The update of the 1941 KIDDER book is continuing, and the researcher still needs KIDDER information during the 1900's.

    1. [MAWORCES] NEHGS Wrong Image help requested
    2. Sue Richart
    3. Greetings listers: As some of you know, Sam Sturgis, one of the NEHGS webmasters, has received an auto-frame system that digitizes microfilm. Using the FHL microfilms, he has done quite a few of the 1910 missing death images and we are working on 1852 missing images. Also, as I go through a spreadsheet of a volume fixing the entries, he is digitizing the appropriate pages from the FHL microfilm to obtain the missing image(s). I will be announcing those pages on GenMassachusetts and Suffolks lists and will only add another county list if there are a lot from that county. What I would like help with are the switched images? I know that there are some Boston pages that show Fall River images and some Bristol pages that show Boston images. I'm not talking about scanning errors where your entry is listed on the wrong year (post-1902 death images), volume, or page. If you are aware of some of switched image and can identify the type (birth, marriage, and death), volume, and page range that would be a great help and will speed up those getting digitized. Before you send me some you think fit this description, I ask that you do one thing. Please, take the time to clear your query and look at the page ONLY by querying for volume and page to ensure that this really is a switched image. There are literally hundreds of thousands of the scanning errors left to fix, so please don't send me those at this time. I've done several volumes and have figured out a reasonably efficient method of working through them, so I will be dealing with the scanning errors that way. Now, if it is your grandmother or great-grandparent's birth, marriage, or death, and there is a problem and you can't figure out how to get to the correct entry, by all means email me or Dale Cook or post on the forum for John Ledden to help you out. I will post the switched page information to GenMasschusetts and the appropriate county lists, so everyone is aware they have been found. I'm really excited about this. Soon all, but the pages that were missing prior to the filming by the folks from Salt Lake, will be available on the NEHGS Massachusetts Vital Records 1841-1910 on-line database. I am spending more time than I should doing this, but it feels great to be making real progress. Sincerely, Sue Richart NEHGS Volunteer repairing the MVR 1841-1910 database from Northeast Washington State

    3. Another tidbit from the Windham County Transcript, Danielsonville, CT, published Thursday, 22 Jan. 1863. In Worcester on Wednesday, George A. Niles, while shoveling the snow from the roof of a building, slipped and fell to the ground, injuring him so badly that he lived but three hours afterward. He leaves a wife and several children. 1. Re: [MAWORCES] Nathaniel and Martha Williams SPRING 1742-1747
    2. The Worcester VR's found in NEHGS Database indicate the two births you reference and no others in Worcester. They were married in Newton, MA in 1741. The family seems to have moved to CT where another child of Nathaniel and Marther is found in Ashford, Windham County, CT. I checked the Ashford record and and confirmed this as Nathaniel son of Nathaniel and Marther b. Sept. 16., 1749. There is a family tree on ROOTSWEB.com that covers this family well. Although information must always be verified from this source there is an indication that the family removed to Stephentown, Rennselaer county, NY and also to Washington County, NY. It appears that although there are several nathaniel Spring's you have a Revolutionary soldier connection that may enable you to obtain a pension file if the correct Nathaniel is identified.

    3. Hi! It's been a long time since I put anything out on the list. We are working in the Civil War year newspapers, The Windham County Transcript, published in Danielsonville, CT. I found this today. Paper dated 1 Oct. 1863. Suicide - Mr. Joseph Woodbury, who lived in Lealandsville, (Charlton, Mass.) committed suicide by hanging, on the night of Sept. 16th. Two letters were found on his table, one addressed to his wife, the other to his children, from whom he been parted for about a year. The last letter was dated, "just half past eight"--he probably hung himself immediately after writing it. Since his wife and children left him he has lived alone. He was a stone cutter by trade, and about sixty years of age. Rum and domestic troubles were the cause of his rash deed. Marilyn Labbe Killingly Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc.
