I live in Texas, but will be in Worcester Co. next week, trying to squeeze in a little research amid wedding plans for my daughter. I know there's a town historian in Barre - how do I contact this person? Is there one in Hardwick and New Braintree? I've accumulated quite a bit of info already, but am looking for things I can't get online. The Worcester Co. MAGenWeb site is a big help! If anyone lives in the area - any additional pointers would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Gail Brown Researching SMITH, DENSMORE/DUNSMOOR, AMOS (or AMES?), ANDERSON in Barre, Hardwick, and New Braintree - 18th Century
I would like to thank Darlene for the look-up in the Swedish Cemetery. She found the cemetery records that I needed to get a death record (or atleast the obit for now) for one of my brick walls. Now I would like to see if anyone has any info on the following which is from the obit I received from the Worcester Library (thanks to them also). obit from the Worcester Evening Gazette "April 23, 1924 Mrs. Erika V.G. Johnson Erika Vithelmina (Nojd) Gothing, 64 years old, widow of Carl J. Johnson, of Somerset hotel, died yesterday afternoon at Memorial hospital. She was born in Gefle, Sweden, but cameo Worcester when 19 years old and for many years was the proprietor of a lodging apartment. She leaves a son, Charles A. Gothing, of Boylston, a ghter, Olga, wife of C.W. Nordgren, of Marlboro; a son, John W., of Chicago, and 12 grandchildren. She was a member of the Thomas street Methodist church and of the Fridens band. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at Oscar W. Borg's funeral chapel. Rev Edwin S. Dahl, pastor of the Thomas street Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in the new Swedish cemetery. " My grandfather was Herman A. Johnson and his marriage record shows that his parents were Carl J. Johnson and Anna C. Strom/Storm and he was born about 1889 in Finland and his parents were born in Sweden. The 1910 directory showed that Herman was living at 15 Pleasant Street and that is the same address that I found Erika and her son William (age 14) on the 1910 Worcester census but could not find Herman and Erika was a widow by 1910. Carl died before 1910 and I believe that he may have come to the states in 1905 as Hermans 1920 Boston census states that he came to the US in 1905. I am sending for death records for both Erika and Carl but in the mean time would like to find someone who can shed any light on these names.... As always any assitance would be greatly appreciated... Hi, I have found a new ancestor. Ethel Adams married Clayton Chandler Gray. I am not sure where they were married but I am guessing Webster. I do not know if they had any children either. I do know that she died in 1948 in East Providence, RI. Up until 2 years prior to her death from what I can tell is that she and Clayton lived in Webster. He worked in the post office for many years prior to moving to RI. If anyone has any Adams or Gray connections, please let me know! Thanks, Patti(Gray) Smith Orlando, Fl.

I'm offering to do look ups for the persons born in Ireland in the 1870 census. The index will produce the PRINTED PAGE Number and Roll where the person can be found in the 1870 census for that State,County and Locale. Your request must be for persons born in Ireland. Please be patient. I will answer you request as soon as I can during the few hours I have each evening. PLEASE use the following guidelines for your requests to expedite a reply and my time. Thank you. The necessary guidelines would be: 1 In the subject line of your email put IRISH 1870 and name of subject to look up request. (EXAMPLE: IRISH 1870 Patrick O'Donnell) 2 One lookup request per email 3 MUST give the SURNAME (spelling variations that would be helpful) 4 NO blanket requests for a surname.....such as ''send me the all the Brown's in Boston" 5 I need the State and County (and Locale, if possible) as to where they were in 1870. EXAMPLE: MA/Worcester/ Milford. 6 An approximated age at 1870 would be very helpful in finding the right person for you. 7 I do NOT need an in-depth family history, just the above info. 8 If you include a spouse or children, specify if they were born in Ireland. I hope this will be helpful to all our researchers. Nanci
