    3. I live in Nothrborough, just a stones throw from Worcester, where it hit 98 degrees today. I'm researching the WHEELOCK surname which is very prominent in Mendon, Milford, Uxbridge, Charlton, Shrewsbury, Lancaster, and even Worcester. I'm currently stuck on John A. Wheelock, who changed his name from Paul Wheelock after he married Lydia E. Wood in Charlton. He lived in Worcester during the mid 1840-s, and died there 1848. 1. [MAWORCES] where I live, who researching, would like to work out a research exchange
    2. Dora Smith
    3. I live in Austin, Texas. I moved here two and a half years ago from Buffalo, NY. I grew up in northeastern New York State, as did my mother. My father and all of his ancestors were from Pennsylvania, my mother's mother was from Northampton, Massachusetts, and my mother's father was born in MOntreal but grew up in Boston and Northampton. For the woman who lives in Rochester, the Buffalo and Erie County Library, main library, special collections department, ahs a rich collection of New England material; town and family histories, the vital records books, and LOTS of published genealogies of families from that area. Particularly Massachusetts and Connecticut. I am researching the surname RAYMOND. They lived for several generations in and near Worcester in the 18th and 19th centuries. I would greatly LOVE to work out a research exchange project with someone in the Worcester area who needs some research done in Texas, or even concerning the south and midwest, as the state archives here has alot of resources on the general area from which people tended to immediately migrate to Texas. Or something that I have unusual access to, such as the entire US census through 1910 and some states for 1920. Or even something people could probably research elsewhere but may not have access to, such as a large collection of FTM's and Automated Archives CD's, Griffiths Evaluation Index (Ireland) and that sort of thing. 2. Gary Rea
    3. I live in Edmond, Oklahoma, a suburb of Oklahoma City, OK. My Bates line went from Dudley, Worcester County, MA to Tracy, Lyon County, Minnesota in 1875. My grandfather and father were both born in Tracy and Dad went to St. Louis, MO in the late 1940s, where he met my mother. They moved, as newlyweds, to Oklhoma City in 1950, and I was born there. I have many lines in Massachusetts, especially in Dudley, Hingham, and Cohasset, but, basically, all over Massachusetts. This is all on my father's side, from his grandmother. Gary

    1. [MAWORCES] Tips and Hints on writing a good list query
    2. Betty Thomas
    3. Tips and Hints on writing a good list query 1. in the subject area: A short description of what the query is about...if about a person or surname, make sure it is in CAPS. Don't just reply to another post using the same subject unless it is the same. Many people will trash posts [unread] without a descriptive subject [ as in the many coming through with Re: [MAWORCES] Where We Live or Roll Call]. Take the time to change it ....it may just pay off with someone reading it that might have otherwise trashed it unread. 2. Writing the Query: Make sure to include Surnames, given names, places with dates and other important info. A huge amount of info is too much! Keep it short but informative. Say what it is you are looking for. Town names are especially important in a large county like Worcester [ more than 60 towns and cities!] Worcester [City] is very different than Worcester [county]. If you don't known an exact date, make an educated guess. Use circa or about so readers will get an idea of what time period is indicated. Here is a good web page about writing a great query. http://www.ngsgenealogy.org/newsqueriesgood.htm Betty Your listowner! bettythomas@charter.net My Family - http://BettyT.tripod.com Wicks,Hammond, Heintz,Bradfield,Walbridge Boylston Historical Society http://users.rcn.com/boyhisoc/ GenWeb County Coordinator for: Genesee, NY http://www.rootsweb.com/~nygenese Wyoming, NY http://www.rootsweb.com/~nywyomin Worcester, MA http://www.rootsweb.com/~maworces
