Thanks to everyone who responded to my question re: OPA, the Office of Price Administration. The Massachusetts rootsweb lists are SO helpful! Thanks again. Liz in British Columbia
Elizabeth, I just noticed that you are in British Columbia, so you and your family was not exposed to this government agency. I apologize for my "flip" answer. Elizabeth, The fact that I can answer your question shows my age, and the fact that you have to ask shows yours. During WW II, there was a government agency that controlled how much things cost. This was the Office of Price Administration (OPA). I am sure if you do a Google search you will learn thing about the OPA that you never wanted to know! Bernice (Ellis) Graves d. April 1, 2004 according the SSDI; Wake & Funeral took place from the James E. Looks like she may have arrived in 1884. You didn't give any dates or names for her son which may help locate the family. Boston, Massachusetts Passenger Lists, 1884 Record info about Harriet Donaldson Name: Harriet Donaldson Arrival Date: 03 Nov 1884 Arrival Port: Boston, Massachusetts Departure Port: Charlottetown & Halifax Page: 650
Hi I am new to this list, in pursuit of my gggrandmother Harriet( Wallace) Donaldson(1811-1889), who left her home in NB Canada and went to live in Blackstone, sometime between 1870 and when she died there in 1889. She is buried with her son in Boston, and I am working on who she went to live with and why. I see there are Donaldsons and Wallaces in the town at the time, and wonder if anyone has come across an unaccounted for elderly aunt. She was born in Calcutta, raised in Northern Ireland, emigrated with young family to Canada and retired alone to Blackstone, and has been a person of mystery in many generations of our family. Any clues or thoughts would be most gratefully appreciated! Beverley [email protected]

I just tried the "As a Libriarian" page on the library's web site and it failed without sending the message. I've reported it to their webmaster. I plan on trying again in another few days.
