Sandi, I also was alone with my Daddy when he died. It was so peaceful and he just looked so at rest. I have treasured that time and am so thankful I sent everyone else home to get some sleep and stayed right beside his bed. Tho he was in a coma, my two daughters from out of town had called and we put the phone to his ear and let them talk, and the daughter and son that live here had both been at the hospital. Mother had died exactly a month earlier and we hadn't told Daddy. He no longer knew who she was, etc. but I have been told that even in a coma, the last sense to leave is hearing, so we talked to him a lot. After everyone else had gone I started wondering if in the back of his mind he still felt the need to take care of Mother, so I told him she was already gone and waiting for him when he was ready and he died within 30 minutes. I will always believe he heard me and understood. Well, we have certainly gotten on a sad subject here.
