Since he viewed being afraid as "not manly", he tried to pass off his fear as "I was in WWII and I have seen planes shot down." It comes down to a loss of control, and a lot of men want to be in control all of the time. My husband would not go on a tour with the rest of the family because he didn't like someone else setting the agenda for each day. If he couldn't be in control, then he just wouldn't go! Pat
