Well, here is the recipe given to me by a N/A cousin: CHOCTAW INDIAN FRY BREAD RECIPE: 4 C flour 2 t salt 6 t baking powder 11/2 tablespoons of shortening water Mix all ingredients together to make a stiff dough. Shape into balls 3" in diameter. Pull dough into 6" circle with fingers. Do not use a rolling pin! Punch holes in the center of each circle. Heat 1" of oil in a shillet and when hot, drop in the dough and brown on each side. Drain the bread on a paper towel. Serve hot with honey or use for Indian Tacos. ANOTHER RECIPE: 1 C flour 1/2 C milk 1 t salt 1 t baking soda Mix all ingredients together. Knead for 2 minutes. Flatten and place in hot grease until golden brown. Enjoy, Sandi!
