Glaucoma is also found in dogs. It can have a rapid onset with the dog scratching at its face and hiding in a dark place. Eyes do not react to light and constrict. Surgery must be immediate or they will go blind. Another symptom is a "cloud" appearing in the eye or eyes. It is very painful for dogs. People can have symptoms in their thirties but it usually happens in the forties or later. If you have the pressure checked in your eyes-takes literally a second and is painless-it will show if you have it or may be pre-disposed to it. It is more common in Native Americans and African Americans and their age of onset is earlier than for Caucasians. Get your eyes checked! Lynn P.S.
