    3. We lived in Massachusetts for over five years. They were not friendly up there. They didn't like military kids because we weren't staying. Culturally it was very different. We said the Pledge of Allegiance in English but sang the French National Anthem at the start of school every day. This was topped off with "God save the Common Wealth of Massachusetts"! Lynn Also French was mandatory until high school. > [Original Message] > From: <SandKatC@aol.com> > To: <MAUPIN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 10/8/02 4:13:40 PM > Subject: Re: [MAUPIN-CHAT] ROLLING UP THE STREETS? > > > In a message dated 10/8/02 3:41:30 PM, GwenStuart@msn.com writes: > > << On the other hand, when we first moved from San Antonio to a small upstate > New York town back in 1966, the people were not friendly and it was awful.
