I have two bad knees and can sympathize. No surgery though. Have torn ligaments from lifting weights-MCL on left and the opposite on the Right. I fell face first when skiing. I keep taking my MSM Glucosamine and that is all I need. I take it before I do any work or walking over uneven ground. I take at least 1200mg of Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Research done in TX has proven that Glucosamine and Chondroitin do REPAIR ligament damage. Bone chips are another story. Make sure to see on an Xray. These surgeries are becoming like hysterectomies-the bread and butter of an orthopedic surgeon. Lynn AH-HO! Just got my new NDN T shirt for donating to the local NDN radio station. > [Original Message] > From: cafarmer <cafarmer@houston.rr.com> > To: <MAUPIN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 10/8/02 10:42:51 PM > Subject: Re: [MAUPIN-CHAT] Lake of the Woods, Kern County, California-Rednecks > > Don't know for sure yet...The swelling needed to go down - my appt with > orthopedist is next Thurs 10-17 (and we leave for a week at the condo at > Canyon Lake- what a bummer-as there is a NA PowWow on the South side of the > Lake that w/e; Wimberly, New Braunsfel there and we were coming back on the > 26 to go to the Festival.) > > All I know now is he said probably ligament damage - and loose bone or > cartilage particles in the knee. Lynn - MSM Glucosamine is what have kept me going for over 3 years - The dtr will probably do an MRI - believe me - surgery WILL BE MY LAST RESORT. I have to find out WHAT exactly is wrong with that old knee. They won't operate on me just because - I'll have to have a definite answer to many questions. However, it has restricted my walking to a very large extent and now this--it hasn't hurt this bad since 1994.
