I really think a lot of behavior like this can be traced back to the family and the way this person grew up. For example, my husband is an only child and never could understand some of our boys' behavior. He used to say things like "Why do they leave their toys strewn about?" or "Why are they arguing about their toys? What difference does it make?" He couldn't understand the give and take of siblings at all and he used to try and come down hard on the boys when they were just behaving like regular brothers. I have seen some---and I do say some---only children that think the world revolves around them and they are entitled to everyone's adulation. My in-laws tried very hard to give my husband this attitude! I remember when we were dating and went to their house and his mother ran up and said, "Now, Jimmy, if you don't like the temperature in the house, feel free to change the thermostat to whatever you want." Had I tried that at my home, I would have drawn back a nub, most likely! Pat
