Sunlight without sunglasses and smoking cause cataracts too. Take Vit C,Folic Acid and E. Also Lutein for the eyes. My dogs had cloudy eyes and I put them on antioxidants and Lutein. Their eyes are no longer cloudy. I did nothing else like change their food etc. Lynn P.S. A friend of mine had a grandchild born with a cataract. She had to put a contact in his eye until he was old enough to have surgery. > [Original Message] > From: <SandKatC@aol.com> > To: <MAUPIN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 10/11/02 6:43:19 PM > Subject: Re: [MAUPIN-CHAT] Re: Surgery > > > In a message dated 10/11/02 8:16:14 PM, cafarmer@houston.rr.com writes: > > << Well, my Bill, being a Maupin, developed cataracts and had implants in both > > eyes before age 45 yrs. I noticed at the Maupin Reunion in Williamsburg that there were several who had Glaucoma. If they start you on drops to lower the pressure make sure you find out about the side effects. Glaucoma is also found in dogs. It can have a rapid onset with the dog scratching at its face and hiding in a dark place. Eyes do not react to light and constrict. Surgery must be immediate or they will go blind. Another symptom is a "cloud" appearing in the eye or eyes. It is very painful for dogs. People can have symptoms in their thirties but it usually happens in the forties or later. If you have the pressure checked in your eyes-takes literally a second and is painless-it will show if you have it or may be pre-disposed to it. It is more common in Native Americans and African Americans and their age of onset is earlier than for Caucasians. Get your eyes checked! Lynn P.S. Doesn't Wal-Mart have vision checks on sale now? > [Original Message] > From: <SandKatC@aol.com> > To: <MAUPIN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com> > Date: 10/11/02 10:20:37 AM > Subject: Re: [MAUPIN-CHAT] Re: Surgery > > > In a message dated 10/11/02 6:41:25 AM, GwenStuart@msn.com writes: > > << I also have glaucoma >> > > Gwen: > > My mother had eye operations for glaucoma. A PARTY IN THE WOODS There was a beer party in progress in the woods. Suddenly, there was a downpour of thunder and rain. Two of the young men ran for about 10 minutes in the pouring rain, finally reaching their car just as the rain let up. They jumped into the car, started it up and headed down the road, laughing -- and, of course, still drinking one beer after another. All of a sudden, an old Indian man's face appeared in the passenger window and there was a light tapping on the window. The passenger screamed out: "EEEEEK! Look at my window! There's an old Indian guy's face there!" The old Indian man kept knocking, so the driver said, "Well open the window a little and ask him what he wants!" The passenger rolled his window down part-way and asked, scared out of his wits, "What do you want?" The old Indian softly asked, "You have any tobacco?" The passenger, terrified, looked at the driver and said, "He Wants tobacco!" "Well, offer him a cigarette! HURRY!" the driver replies. So he fumbles with the pack and hands the old man a cigarette and yells, "Step on it!" rolling up the window in terror. Now going about 80 miles an hour, they halfway calm down they Start laughing again, and the passenger says, "What was that?" The driver says, "I don't know. How could this be? I am going pretty fast." But, all of a sudden AGAIN there is a knock on the window and there is the old Indian man again. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaa, there he is again!," the passenger yells." "Well, see what he wants now!" yells back the driver. He rolls down the window a little ways and shakily says, "Yes?" "Do you have a light?" the old Indian quietly asks. The passenger throws a lighter out the window at him, rolls up the window, and yells, "STEP ON IT!" They are now going about 100 miles per hour and still guzzling beer, trying to forget what they had just seen and heard, when all of a sudden again there is more knocking! "Oh my God! HE'S BACK!" The passenger rolls down the window and screams out, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" in stark fear. The old man gently replies, "You want some help getting out of the mud?"

Hi Cousins: We got our copy today of the Mountain Enterprise, a weekly paper from the Frazier Park area, where we are moving. There is a photo of a black cat sitting on the edge of the toilet seat peeing. We got a kick out of that. We've had cats who have used the tub drain for the same reason. Sandi
Hi Deborah: Congratulations on being a grandma! Lucky you. I hope to someday join the ranks but won't hold my breath! Thank you, so much, for sharing. Cuz Sandi
Good Morning Sandi, I believe that you are doing a GREAT job and have given me so much information on the loving family that I did not know I was born into. If for some reason others do not abide by your list rules - take away their privileges to chat, on this list, with the rest of the family. By the way, I am a grandmother now. Christopher Patrick Eckels was born Sept 27th. He was very early but doing great. I am truly going to enjoy this new phase of my life. Thanks for letting me share it with you. Thank you so much Deborah >From: SandKatC@aol.com >Reply-To: MAUPIN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com >To: MAUPIN-CHAT-L@rootsweb.com >Subject: [MAUPIN-CHAT] *Pat* >Date: Thu, 17 Oct 2002 23:16:04 EDT > >Hi Family: > >I see that Pat is doing a smear campaign against me and I'm sorry y'all >have >been involved. Hi Family: I see that Pat is doing a smear campaign against me and I'm sorry y'all have been involved. I've been made aware of this by various cousins. Please know that you are not involved, her allegations are not correct, and that I've washed my hands of the matter. As y'all know, I want family unity. I've never had a problem like this and have handled it the best way I know. I will handle my lists the way I see fit. They must run smoothly. Any comments may be sent to me personally. Best, your cousin, Sandi
