Carolyn: I'm a cat person to the max! I'll always have a cat if I have anything to say about it! And, after Kitten got Curly, her Siberian Husky, I'm sold on those dogs, big time! She didn't need much training. She is so super smart! And, she just loves her grandma, me! Sandi
It's past my bedtime and work will there in the morning..so I thought I'd say goodnite and leave you with this: If you have three quarters, four dimes, and four pennies, you have $1.19. You also have the largest amount of money in coins without being able to make change for a dollar. Go figure! Tamara
Gang: Who has seen the "Windtalkers" movie? Son Chris rented it, saw it and now it's my turn to see if. I'll watch it tomorrow. Sandi
Sandi, I know what you mean..the last time that I lived in CA (many years back) I worked at a semiconductor company and there was a problem one night that I had to report. I was furious as the blond guy tried to take my report and finally said he couldn't understand me! I am NOT a predjudice person, but all I could do was look around at all the asian people that had relocated to our country, shake my head and walk away! OUCH! Those clothes didn't get "wrenched". So that reminds me of something I am very proud. Being that I was pretty much raised in the ozarks of MO..I acquired that soft southern accent that is mostly a mixture of the scotch/irish..and even though I now live quite a distance, sooner or later someone around here brings up:"I detect a slight southern accent!" So with this I just wanted to share an old song that I haven't heard in many years..it's something like this: It was the third of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day, I was out chopping cotton and my brother was bailing hay; At lunchtime we stopped and walked back to the house to eat, And mother called out to the back door, "Please remember to wipe your feet." Then she said, "I got some news this morning from Choctaw Ridge, Today Billy McAllister jumped off the Tallahatchee Bridge." Father said to mother, as he passed around the English peas, "Well, Billy never had any sense, pass the biscuits please, There are five more acres in the lower forty I have to plow," And mother said it was a shame about Billy anyhow, It seems as if nothing ever turns out well on Choctaw Ridge, And now Billy McAllister has jumped off the Tallahatchee Bridge. Appalachian Version Hit'uz the third uh Jiune, uh nother sleepy, dusty Delta day, I'uz ou' achoppin cott'n 'n' muh Brother, he uz abalin' hay; 'N' at dinnertime we stopt 'n' walkt back tuh the house ter eat, 'N' Ma, she hollar ou' the backdoor, "Y'all 'member tuh wipe yer feer," Then she sez, "I done got some niews this amornin' from upah Choctaw Ridge, Terday Billy Joe Mack-allister done jump offen the Tallahatchee Bridge." Pa, he say ter Ma as he pass roun' the black-eye(d) peas, "Wall, Billy Joe, he never had no sense, pass them 'er biscuit please, There's fiv more aik-res down owna lower forty I gotter plow," 'N' Maw, she sys 'twas uh right down shame about Billy Joe anyhow. Seem like everything goes so bad inymore upah Choctaw Ridge, 'N' now Billy Joe Mack-allister done jump offen the Tallahatchee Bridge. Then you mix in the okie that my family passed on to me and it's quite the something whenever I go back for a visit and then return home! You know, getting back into the "twang" of things! Tamara

It was interesting, but, if I ever get to fly out there again, Maui would be my choice and Kauai. I couldn't get over all the plant there that grow so HUGE! We have house plants that are the same and very small. But, that is a natural green house. Love the ghost stories they have, also. Sandi
It has been a long day, we are going on our 5th day of rain - and will rain 2 more. It is now thundering outside with the rain - so Spanky may not let us sleep to much tonite. Well, here is the recipe given to me by a N/A cousin: CHOCTAW INDIAN FRY BREAD RECIPE: 4 C flour 2 t salt 6 t baking powder 11/2 tablespoons of shortening water Mix all ingredients together to make a stiff dough. Shape into balls 3" in diameter. Pull dough into 6" circle with fingers. Do not use a rolling pin! Punch holes in the center of each circle. Heat 1" of oil in a shillet and when hot, drop in the dough and brown on each side. Drain the bread on a paper towel. Serve hot with honey or use for Indian Tacos. ANOTHER RECIPE: 1 C flour 1/2 C milk 1 t salt 1 t baking soda Mix all ingredients together. Knead for 2 minutes. Flatten and place in hot grease until golden brown. Enjoy, Sandi!

She took care of the kids and let us know if anyone was coming near the house. I wish y'all could meet our Curly, though. She is such a sweet darling. So well behaved and she doesn't smell! Can you believe that? Siberian Huskies clean their coats like cats, they lick! Sandi
Bill and I have had many favorite 4-legged sons and daughters, really only 2 sons. All but 2 have been "Daddy's girls". The 2 that were mine were very small dogs. Even our Irish Setter was his "girl". We have wonderful memories of the Setter, the beagle, the dachshund, etc. each with their special personalities and tricks of the trade. We loved each one of them and when they died or we HAD to put them down, we both cried mucho. When Spanky (our current dtr) goes, Bill says no more because it hurts to much - but in the almost 44 yrs of marriage we have only been 2 months without a pup in the house.
