Today I acquired the above hardbound 331 page book which is a biographical account of the War Service of Members of the Staff during the second world war published by the Canadian Bank of Commerce 1947. The in-page reports there were only 2500 copies printed. It appears these individuals may have at one time worked at the bank. There are no Maupin s listed. There is an index. Since we frequently write regarding other names this written offer may be pertienent. Feel free to send lookups choice of names. . . .
Hey, thought I better warn you, Pat will jump all over "employed." Norma
"Pat made a mistake." Thank heavens. I know how to spell "ferry" {Pat). I told you I'm in a different time zone. How can you expect me to remember the difference? Norma

Thanks, BF. We will be there until Wednesday or Thursday, so hope to get a lot done. We have already searched the online catalogue---maybe that will give us a headstart. I am looking forward to making a great new find! Doesn't happen very often anymore. That was so much fun when we first started doing research. The best part now is making contact with all the cousins! Best regards, Patricia In a message dated 02/03/2002 1:44:22 PM Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes: > This is BF. My sister Maureen and I are leaving in about an hour for Houston to do some research at the Clayton. I can't believe we haven't been there before. Has anyone on this list done research there? If so, how was it? Patricia

This is BF. I have done extensive research at the Clayton and employeed paid researchers working from there. There is ample parking on the lot and in the street. Houston is a big city. My advice is, when you want a chair, go to an office supply company, not a retail jack-of-all-trades store like Office Depot. At a local office supply store, I even found some gently used expensive chairs that some company had sold because they were remodeling and wanted all the office chairs to look alive. Think "out of the box" instead of going to "all the usual suspects" and you'll be happier in the long run. Pat

Gang: I need a new task chair to sit on while using the computer. So, my daughter and I went out today to buy one. How hard should that be? The chair just needs a soft seat and a good back rest. I have never seen so many different types of chairs in my life and most had arms, which I don't want. We'd already been to our local Staples so went to our local Office Depot. The chair I liked was out of stock. So we went to Thousand Oaks and went to their Office Depot and it looked like they might have that same chair in stock since the "take this tag to the cashier" was well stocked in the little plastic sleeve that also shows the price. I was smug and went up to the cashier and he called the stockroom. They didn't have the chair in stock. I asked them to remove all those order slips that were still in the sleeve on the chair or others would be bringing them to the counter. Near that store we went to Office Max and Best Buy and they had nothing of interest. We came home without a chair. I could have paid for the chair I like at Office Depot and it would be delivered to the house, but wasn't in the mood. Tomorrow I think we'll make a trip down to Fry's, 18 miles away, to see what they have. Maybe we won't. Anyway, that's my little story about the chair. Sandi =^..^=
