    2. Don't forget the young man who fought for the Taliban. Here in Texas, the Yates murders, are getting lots of coverage because they were so horrible. The husband took the stand today for the defense. A psychiatrist testified yesterday that she had warned the Yates two years ago not to have any more children. Early reports suggest to me that he has some culpability in this. Too bad he won't be held accountable. She had to home school those children, couldn't have babysitters or friends, and he obviously expected her to be a baby factory. I am not saying that home schooling and lots of babies is necessarily a bad thing, but all of that forced upon someone and coupled with depression and a warped relationship it would have to lead to trouble. That's my grousing! Patricia In a message dated 02/26/2002 11:39:57 PM Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes: > I have some disgusting things to talk about.

She thought that she was a terrible mother and that her children were condemned because of it. So, why would she want any more? He is the one that was in charge, not her; she was mentally ill for years! He gives me the creeps, too. Even his reaction to their deaths is creepy. BTW: It appears this man that tried to kill his 6 children wasn't mentally ill---just mad because his wife didn't want to be married to him anymore. Pat

He planned their execution and carried it out, killing 5 of his 6 children. Has there been any national outcry? Are the talk show hosts outraged? Pat

However, in England, this has been recognized for years and used legally---in defenses or to commit people to hospitals, etc. Here in Texas the idea seems to be "she just had the baby blues." I am finding it interesting that many of the callers on the talk shows do not really think mental illnesses are real. One woman said, "So, if she is mentally ill, let's cure her and then we can kill her!" If you read all of the background in this case, the words "mentally ill" just scream out from the page. I also find it interesting that on Thursday a man killed all of his children using carbon monoxide poisoning and yet there has been no outcry and hardly any news coverage. As for the Yates husband, from all accounts he was very domineering and controlling. When the doctor testified that he told the couple not to have any more children after the problems occurred when child #4 was born and yet they had another child as soon as possible, it makes me wonder just whose decision it was for her to have another baby. I think he is culpable in their deaths. Pat in Fort Worth

    1. [MAUPIN-CHAT] DISGUSTING THINGS
    2. Gang: I have some disgusting things to talk about. In California we have Gary Condit in Stanislaus CO running for another term in Congress. He is quite involved in the disappearance of Chandra Levy. He won't talk. I have an email friend in Modesto who use to be a campaign team member for this man. After the Chandra Levy disappearance, she wasn't happy with his evasive ways and tried to tell others who have been her friends, for over 35 years, her feelings. These people no longer speak to this woman! They believe Condit is clean! I've watched FOX TV CABLE NEWS in this case and listened to talk radio. Don't know about where you live, but this is big news here. In Simi, Marlene Heath, who went out with friends, taking her 3 year old and 13 month old sons, drank 3 bottles of wine, came home in a stuper, left the boys in the hot car, went in to sleep it off, later woke up and ran back to the car found her sons were dead. She spent a year, so I hear, in the Ventura jail. What did she get? Probation and going to parenting classes. HELLO? The husband, so I heard, said their two sons were in heaven happy because "mommy" wasn't going to spend more jail time. This woman is 40 years old and we hope she isn't able to have more children! The judge who let her off is a liberal to the max, which we don't need here. The husband must be as nuts as his wife or he is into TOTAL denial! Then, there is the Andrea Yates thing in Texas. We all know about that! What about her husband? Another nut case, I think. Denial sure is great! NOT! Then, we have the case of the two San Francisco lawyers with the attack dogs who killed a neighbor! Gees, this case is getting nasty! I've already heard more about it than I wanted to know. I hope they both serve time, BIG TIME, over this. But, I won't be surprised if they get slaps on the hand. Then, we have Islam schools in the USA that teach children, grab this, that when Jesus Christ comes back he will break the cross and convert all to Islam! Also, they need to kill all the Jews they can. HELLO? What is wrong with this scenario? As I remember, our Lord is from the house of David. Seems to me that David was a Jew! Okay, I'm through grousing! Sandi

    3. Sandi, my friend finally returned my call....was out of town calling on his cell phone, so was unable to give me phone numbers but he thought a part of the Grady Co Fairgrounds that is rented out for reunions was really nice and the price was reasonable. He said if there wasn't a number listed for them to call the Grady Co Commissioners. Also to check with the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce. He also said if the motel you use to use was the Best Western, it had changed hands this past year and that may be part of your problem with them. Sorry I'm not more help. Mary

    2. A funeral service is being held for a woman who has just passed away. At the end of the service the pall bearers are carrying the casket out when they accidentally bump into a wall, jarring the casket. They hear a faint moan. They open the casket and find that the woman is actually alive! She lives for ten more years, and then finally dies. A ceremony is again held at the same place, and at the end of the ceremony the pallbearers are again carrying out the casket. As they are walking, the husband cries out, "Watch the wall!"
