Thanks Loren for info about Fort Scott. I have some information on it, but would like alot more. By the way, my Silas T.G. Maupin also did fight in the Indian Wars in the New Mexico territory when he migrated there to homestead land in Farmington, NM in 1870s. Also info on my line (maybe I wasnt clear when I wrote it), but my John Maupin is the one who married Frances Dabney, he did not go to Kentucky (at least not that I know of from Dorothy's book page 140-141 (he lived in Hanover County and Albermale County dying there in1806). I descend through his son: Thomas Maupin (#22 on page 141) who married Judith Cobbs. See Thomas Maupin (page 180 in Dorothy's book): Children of Thomas Maupin (Albermarle Co/Cabell Co VA) there is Samuel J. (Jennings) who maried Elizabeth Gilmore, their second child (b) is my great great grandfather Silas G. (actually it is T.G. -Thomas Gilmore) Maupin marrying Martha Bukey...... I have all history down from that including a family Bible from 1865. Thanks again for your input. My great grandmother Josephine B. Maupin (daughter of Silas and Martha) was born in Girard, Kansas in 1865 and then left from there in 1875 with the family (I think, dont have my notes with me), in a conestoga wagon along the Santa Fe trail to homestead land in Farmington, New Mexico. (I have alot of stories of this adventure and their homesteading land, etc). Susan (in San Diego, CA)
