    3. I have found this letter in my papers and wondered who it might interest. Richmond, KY., March 28th., 1895. Mr. J.W. Iredell, Jr., Generall Manager, Cincinnati, O. Dear Sir:-In acknowledging receipt of the Penn Mutual Life Insuance Company's check for Twenty hundred and Thirty Two Dollars and Seventy Two Cents ($2,232.72) in settlement of the ploicy No.49872, on the life of my late husband, George W. Maupin, who died August 30th, 1893, I am pleased to say that it is like finding that much money, because the plicy which was issued November 1st., 1887, had lapsed for non-payment of premium due Noveber 1st, 1890. About sixteen months after my husbands death, when the policy was found among some old papers, upon suggestionof a friend I wrote asking if the policy had any value, and you can imagine my surprise when you informed me, that the policy under its extension clause, was in force at the time of my husband's death. Icertainly have every reason to satisfied with the prompt settlement and take pleasure in recommending the Company to my friends who desire to purchase a policy of Insurance that is non-forfeiting and incontestable. Yours truly, (signed) Fannie K. Maupin This is not a hand written letter. It is a typed copy of the original letter. If this George and Fannie belong to you, let me know. Leanna

    3. Good Evening!!! A BIG THANK YOU TO YOUR, I have never been able to find the Death Date of George Washington Maupin born 3-7-1842 Madison Co. Ky married 3-18-1873 Madison Co., KY to Frances Stivers b. abt. 1858 D. 10-11-1873. He is something you will find hard to believe. George Washington Maupin of the fox hound family fame had two families. The first was an out of wedlock child born 9-27-1872. This boy's mother died when he was very young and the Judge from a county south of Madison Co., raised him. On election day, the first for the boy to vote, George Washington Maupin was at the Court House when he signed in and seeing that he did not use the Maupin name, but was using his mother's maiden name, made a big todo and told the boy he was to use the Maupin name from them on. And he did. He had five children and there are very many descendants of this line living in Jackson and Madison Co., KY. Again thank you this is a rare find.
