Although we're new to all this, Max and I love going through the lineage charts and I've come to this conclusion: After Daniel and Margaret Via had four boys - bang, bang, bang, bang (the last being Thomas) I'll bet something WAS wrong with Thomas (as Bill intimated) and she told Daniel to forget the whole thing. Poor thing was only about 19 when Gabriel was born and I'd think she had enough; four boys to raise and possibly the last being a great deal of trouble. However, eight years later, Daniel had probably also had enough - or not enough, if you get my drift. And along comes William. Then I guess they got their problems ironed out (if they had any) and five more kids came along. I also bet the last one, Margaret, who was born five years after Jean, was a boo-boo. Margaret Via probably thought she'd gone through the change and was safe. I don't mean to be disrespectful but I have fun dreaming up stuff like this. On the other hand, Thomas was a land owner and seller in Albemarle county. If there was something wrong with him, it seems to me it couldn't have been too "wrong." Good Afternoon!!! Thomas Maupin, son of Daniel Maupin and Margaret Via, was neither a purchaser or a seller of land in Albemarle County. His father gave him part of the Land Grant he, Daniel, had gotten. When Thomas died he left it to his brother Gabriel Maupin who thereafter sold it back to Daniel.
