Maupin, age forty years, finished his earthly career and folded his arms in death, at his home near Colbert, I.T. Mr. Maupin was known as an honorable and true man, warm and enduring in his friendship and prompt in his business transactions. He was well known in this city and throughout the Territory. By economical management, coupled with untiring energy he had amassed a fortune of considerable extent--leaving an estate worth over $25,000. His remains were interred at Bloomfield academy, with Masonic honors. By his special request Mr. George Massey exercises the right of guardianship over his little daughter Lelah until her mother can take her in charge. Lelah is now attending Miss Spencer's school on Sears street where she has been attending school all the year. Instead of the Catholic school as stated by the Herald-News. For sometime Mrs. Maupin has been in St. Louis undergoing medical treatment, consequently the only member of the dying man's family who watched his life ebbing away was his little daughter Lelah. Mr. Massey informs us that the deceased's papers relative to his business were all found in good order, obviating any trouble in settling up the estate.
