Dear William, I'm very glad to here you will be posting some information on one of my favorite ancestor's. I'm still trying to find out about the possible lost finger of John Rice. Have found no reference to date. If you or any other cousins get a chance or are in an area where you can rent a movie by the name of Ride With The Devil you should see this movie. Not only was part of it filmed in Lexington MO. but one of our friends home is also in it. There's a scene in the movie where Dutch one of the main charactors get's his little finger shot off. I would like to think that if John lost a finger it was in a gun fight with federal troops. This movie is the best you will find that portrays the border wars in Missouri. Thanks for all you've done and please tell Dorothy Snead HI! from Robbie and Debbie Maupin. Your's Always Robbie Maupin.
