Thelma L. "Sammy" Wilson Funeral services for Thelma L. Wilson, 76, of Chickasha, were held Monday, November 20, 2000, at 10:00 a.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kim Hays, of the Bible Baptist Church officiating. Thelma L. Wilson was born October 1, 1924, in Eldorado, Oklahoma, the daughter of George Halmer Vann and Florence Crabtree Vann. She died Friday, November 17, 2000, in Oklahoma City. Thelma spent her early childhood in southwest Oklahoma where she attended school. She married Troy Oliver Wilson, on October 28, 1940 in Altus, Oklahoma. After their marriage they lived in several Texas communities due to her husband's employment in bridge construction. Thelma came to the Grady County area in 1980, from Texas. Thelma had been employed with Chickasha Public Schools in the Dietary Department for two years. She was most recently employed with the Garvin County Living Center, where she was devoted in assisting mentally challenged adults until her retirement due to health conditions in 1998. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sweetwater, Texas. Thelma was preceded in death by both parents and one brother. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy, on June 3, 1990. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Betty Wilson, of Chickasha, Louis and Diane Wilson, of Sterling, Colorado; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dewilla (Dee) and Dale Holden, of Chickasha, Pamela Smith of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; two sisters, Odessa Weldon, of Pauls Valley, Dorothy REA, of Amarillo, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Bennye Vann, of Richardson, Texas; fourteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Music was provided by Craig Stuke. Casket bearers were Gary and Troy Wilson, Lewis Roller, Kendall Smith and Mark and Shane REA. Interment was in the Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
