    3. Hi cousins, Thanks for the very interesting answers. So, if I understand everything well, most of the time in the USA, afroamerican got their family name via pre-civil war events (slavery, emancipation, etc). But it is also possible that the name Maupin was transmitted through wedding ... isn't it ? The last would mean the Maupins could have also roots in Africa. Is there a possibility ?
