William Bailey Maupin was the son of Dabney Maupin and Polly Shifflett. He may have been named after his grandmother, Susannah Bailey (d/o William Bailey and Mary Alford, gd/o Callam Bailey and Sarah or Susannah Holman, ggd/o Thomas Bailey) He lived in the Kansas City, Kansas area before moving to Oklahoma sometime after 1880. He was worth about $15,000 in 1860, before the Civil War and before his divorce. He was married to 1. Jane Noland 2. Lydia Earnshaw, and 3. Mary Jane Crabtree. William Bailey had 12 children. He was a farmer, a ferry boat operator, he owned a grist mill and a saw mill. He was a brother to my gggrand father, Levi W. Maupin. You must be too young to remember the song "Bill Bailey Won't You Please Come Home." William is a great name! What is your mother's Maupin Line?
