Dear cousins, Having re-read the story of Mademoiselle de Maupin, I wonder if the "de" was added only for literature purposes. Ok, Th. Gautier called his novel "Mademoiselle de Maupin" but it seems that in historial records she is only known as Julie (D'Aubigny) Maupin. Anne France Dautheville also called her Julie de Maupin, but I think it was after Gautier. Have you heard of any other "de Maupin" ? Even if "de Maupin" is an invented name, I am in favor of Maupin designing a place name. Any idea, cousins ? Patrick
