I think John Conlee Maupin followed his brother Thomas Jefferson Maupin to Eureka Nevada. Thomas is listed on the 1870 census. Thomas's son is on the mortality schedule for 1870.I can only conjecture that they were both looking to find wealth in the Comstock Silver mines. I also think John's oldest daughter Carrie stayed in Nevada as she married there. John eventually came to California.His brother, Thomas, settled in Portland Or. Pauline
