After the war they rode with Jesse & Frank James. The Maupin boys were friends with the Younger brothers, who might have been counsins to Jesse & Frank. >> Hi Denise: I'm in contact with a person from the John Rice Maupin line who told me this a long time ago and I've been trying to find something about it on paper. So far, nada. That is, to their running with the James boys. I knew they were with Quantrill. These Maupins were second cousins to my GG granddaddy, John Maupin. One of my Fitzpatrick cousins told me that the gang use to go to Rush Springs, Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory, now Rush Springs, Grady CO, OK, and stay at his G granddaddy's farm when they were in the area. He said he is sending me some information on this. Now, John Maupin's daughter, Mary Daniel, married James Fitzpatrick and they were my G grandparents. James' brother was Buck Fitzpatrick and the same person who had the farm where the gang is said to have visited. It would make sense to me that the Maupin boys were in touch with John Maupin and also knew Jim and Mary [Maupin] Fitzpatrick and that Jim's brother had a perfect place for hiding. Of course, the family never talked about this so all I can do with it is make a nice story eventually. Off the top of my head, John Rice Maupin married Helen Eastman and they had a daughter, Leah. I didn't know they had any sons. I will have to check with the Patrick cousin on that one. She must be holding out! LOL She sent me a lot of stuff on John Rice and brother William that was very interesting. I sure wish I'd been there to speak with this Robert Dean Maupin. Did you invite him to join the list???????????? Best, Cuz Sandi
